MSAOM, L.Ac., EAMP

In pursuit of holistic healthcare that is readily accessible to all, and in an effort to share a unique life long personal benefit from the alternative medical field, Paul Miller has chosen to bring his specific medical skill set to this community. Through education, community outreach, and a private practice focused on integration and collaboration, his goal is to share a deeply rooted passion for Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and their great potential in helping many achieve optimal wellbeing.

Paul Miller studied Chinese Medicine at Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington where he obtained both a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Health Sciences and a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental medicine.
He received clinical training at one of Seattle’s larger hospitals, the Harborview Medical Center, where Acupuncture has been integrated with a focus in treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and associated complaints. Also in addition to the training received at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health (http://bastyrcenter.org), which is the student teaching clinic of Bastyr University, he accepted the externship opportunity offered by the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in partnership with Bastyr University. This was a 4 week intensive clinical rotation hosted by 4 Shanghai area hospitals where integrative care is the standard.

Upon graduation, he was given a position working with one of central Washington’s most respected medical doctors. The clinical setting was very unique, with numerous alternative techniques being utilized. While there, he worked using multiple complimentary therapies, including Chinese Medicine. The style of practice and diverse patient population was an invaluable addition to his academic training.

Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM); as an independent and self-contained system of medicine, TCM is over 3000 years old. TCM is a holistic medical system, treating the human body of each man or woman as a whole, allowing for highly individualized care. Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Moxibustion, Tui Na Massage, and Cupping are all part of the proven tools still used today. TCM views the body as not only systems of organ, muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel and lymphatics, but also sees the necessary energy needed for each of these systems to function optimally. The Chinese word for this is “Qi” (chee). Qi flows through the body in several pathways called meridians or channels. Obstruction of or damage to these channels results in pain and disease. Acupuncture accesses these meridians via specific points to reestablish proper flow or assist in building more energy within that meridian and it’s organ system.  When we have enough of this energy flowing freely in our bodies our health and vitality is at its finest. TCM is an amazing system of medicine used  by many successfully in the treatment of headaches, musculoskeletal pain, digestive disorders, IBS, fibromyalgia, Chronic fatigue, PMS, dysmenorrhea, infertility, miscarriage and much, much more.

Paul Miller’s goal is to help as many as possible experience superior health without dangerous and/or unwanted side effects associated with so many other healthcare options. Together, he and his patients journey to health utilizing as many safe, natural, and healthy alternatives as possible to allow the truly amazing healing potential of everyone’s body to be maximized.
